Roof Inspections
A real on-the-roof inspection with photos, whether you are buying, selling or just checking.

Four seasons, four ways to wear out a roof.
December – February
Ice dams at the eaves
- What happens
- Heat escaping through the attic melts snow on the upper roof. It runs down and refreezes at the cold eave, building a dam of ice. Meltwater backs up behind it and gets pushed under the shingles.
- What we check
- Ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, attic ventilation and insulation, and staining on the underside of the deck.
March – May
Hail and the snow coming off
- What happens
- Spring storms bring hail that bruises shingles and knocks off the granules that protect them from sun. Damage is often invisible from the ground.
- What we check
- Granule loss, soft bruises, dented vents and gutters — photographed and dated in case you need them for insurance.
June – August
Sun at 4,300 feet
- What happens
- Salt Lake sits high and dry, so UV is strong and roof surfaces bake. Shingles dry out, crack and curl; sealant around vents and flashing shrinks.
- What we check
- Curling and cracked shingles, brittle pipe boots, failed sealant, and attic heat build-up.
September – November
Canyon wind before the snow
- What happens
- Strong east winds can lift and crease shingle tabs and break their seal. Leaves fill gutters right before the first freeze.
- What we check
- Lifted or creased shingles, ridge caps, clogged gutters and downspouts — so the roof goes into winter sealed.
No surprises, start to finish.
Inspect
We get on the roof, not just look from the driveway, and photograph everything we find.
Written estimate
A clear, itemised price and the options that make sense — before any work begins.
The work
Clean tear-off, done right, with the yard swept for nails at the end of every day.
Final walk-through
A photo report of the finished roof, and we don't leave until you're happy with it.

Flat roofs, sealed at every seam.
Water sits on a flat roof — and in a Salt Lake winter it freezes, thaws and finds every weak seam. We install membranes that are fully sealed at the edges and fix the drainage that causes ponding.
- Modified bitumen and TPO membranes
- Coatings for sound existing roofs
- Additions, carports, garages and light commercial
The Trophy standard
Every roof we finish should be one we'd put our name on.
Straight answers
If your roof needs a repair, not a replacement, that is what we will tell you.
Photos, always
You see what we see — before, during and after.
Price in writing
An itemised estimate before work starts, and no surprise add-ons.
A clean site
Tarps over landscaping, nails swept daily, debris hauled away.

Roofing questions, answered.
What areas do you serve?
We are based in Salt Lake County and work across Salt Lake, Utah, Davis, Tooele, Summit, Wasatch and Sanpete counties — from Bountiful down to Manti, and from Tooele to Park City and Heber City.
How do I know if I need a new roof or just a repair?
Age, how widespread the damage is, and whether leaks keep coming back. A 10-year-old roof with a few wind-lifted shingles needs a repair. A 22-year-old roof losing granules everywhere usually does not. We will show you photos and give you both options when both are reasonable.
What causes ice dams, and can a new roof stop them?
Ice dams form when attic heat melts snow that refreezes at the colder eaves. A new roof with ice and water shield at the eaves stops the water getting in; fixing attic ventilation and insulation stops the dam forming in the first place. We look at both.
Do you help with hail damage insurance claims?
We inspect, document the damage with dated photos, and can meet your adjuster on the roof. Whether to file and what is covered is between you and your insurance company.
Can you replace a roof in winter?
Yes, on dry days above freezing. Shingle sealant needs warmth to bond, so we plan winter jobs around the weather. Spring through fall is easier to schedule.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most single-family homes are torn off and re-roofed in one to two days, weather permitting. Larger or steeper roofs take longer, and we will tell you the expected schedule in your estimate.
Is the inspection really free?
Yes. We will get on the roof, take photos and tell you what we find. There is no obligation to hire us.
